*The second squad recently reported the details of an attempted burglary that occurred on Monday, Oct. 17 at 7:45 p.m.
According to detectives, two male subjects attempted to gain entry to a home on Ann Court through a rear sliding door but fled after the home's burglar alarm went off. They were last seen by the homeowner fleeing in a four-door white Lincoln Town Car driven by a third subject. None of the subjects could be described and the direction of travel was not known.
After an investigation by the Robbery and Second Squad, it was determined that this incident did not fit the recent pattern of home invasions that have occurred in the county.

*Police have arrested a 28-year-old man following the investigation of two burglaries that occurred at the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Plainview.
Police state that on Oct. 10, in the middle of the night, and again a week later, the arrestee, a resident of Bay Shore, used a spare set of keys to enter the church. Once inside, police say, he used the keys to enter the office of the pastor where he stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the office. He is a former employee of the church and he kept the keys after resigning in July. He is charged with burglary third degree and was arraigned at First District Court.
