The Board of Commissioners for the Plainview Water District recently announced that the Water District will be holding the line on tax revenues and water rates.
"With gas and oil prices at an all-time high, the Water District is trying to hold the line where we can," commented Edward Shulroff, chairman of the board of commissioners. "We will continue to pull our resources together and protect our consumers while providing them with safe reliable water."
Although there will be no increase in tax revenues and water rates, residents will see a tax rate increase due to the Nassau County Reassessment program. The uniform percentage of value (UPV) is changing from 1 percent to 1/2 percent. If the assessed valuation is halved, the tax rate has to double if there is no change in the amount of taxes being collected.
The Board of Commissioners of the Plainview Water District is committed to providing its residents with the highest quality and fairly priced water, while ensuring complete compliance with all state and federal environmental regulations. Customers who have any questions should contact the Water District at 931-6469.
The Plainview Water District announces the board meetings for the month of November 2005. Community members are welcomed and encouraged to attend the meetings.
