Evy Rothman, member of the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District's Board of Education, was recently awarded Hadassah's National Leadership Award from the TOBAY (Town of Oyster Bay) Chapter of Hadassah. Hadassah is the largest volunteer women's and Jewish organization in the United States, with over 300,000 members. The TOBAY Chapter encompasses Syosset, Woodbury, Plainview, Old Bethpage, Jericho, Hicksville, and other surrounding areas. Rothman received this award based upon her accomplishments and development of leadership within Hadassah and other civic and educational organizations. She was honored at the TOBAY Hadassah Chapter Installation of Officers held in May.

As an active member of the school, Rothman serves as the Educational Consultant for the "Bully Frog" program in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. As part of this program, she works with teachers and staff toward the advancement of this early intervention, interactive, K-8 bully prevention program. She has also been responsible for a successful $24.3 million bond referendum, an increase in the number of offered advanced placement courses, implementation of a foreign language in K-4, a K-12 research program, and a new K-8 math program.
As an active member of the community, she is the membership VP for the Nassau region of Hadassah. This position makes her responsible for the 16,000 members of Hadassah in Nassau County, as well as the recruitment of new members.
Rothman is a past president of the Plainview Chapter of Hadassah and is currently the TOBAY Hadassah Journal/Calendar Chair. She is also a trustee for the Plainview Congress of Teachers Welfare Fund and a trustee for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Teamsters Welfare Fund. Prior to serving as a board member at Plainview-Old Bethpage, Rothman was a Literacy Tutor for STB Tutoring Service for 17 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Psychology and her Masters of Science in Special Education, both from Brooklyn College.
Evy resides in Plainview with her husband of 31 years, Jerry. Together they have a daughter, Brett (27) and son, Josh (24). Her hobbies include working out, golfing, reading, and traveling.
