Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School recently announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the graduating class of 2005. This year's valedictorian is Marissa Goldblatt. The salutatorian is Matthew Schlossberger. Both Marissa and Matthew truly have a dedication to their education.
Marissa Goldblatt is actively involved in numerous high school organizations and community events. She is Vice President of the Science Olympiad team, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Honors Choir, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Marissa is also involved in many community endeavors. She is very involved with the local Cultural Arts Playhouse, as well as with Temple Beth Torah, where she is a member of the junior choir. Marissa will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Matthew Schlossberger is very active in research and experimentation in the field of physical and biological science. He has done DNA research and genetics investigations at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and is currently working on an experiment entitled "Electro-spinning of Polystyrene and POSS Nano Fibers" for the Siemens Westinghouse Competition and Intel-Science talent search. Matthew has received numerous honors and awards for his work in physics, calculus, chemistry, pre-calculus, and also as a musician. He has participated in the New York State School Music Association competition and the Long Island Music Teachers Association recitals where he has received high honors for his musical performances. He also volunteers at the male surgical unit and emergency department of North Shore University Hospital. Matthew will attend Dartmouth College.
