On Sunday, June 26, at the C.W. Post Tilles Center, the fourteenth graduating class received its final awards from Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School; their diplomas.
Escaping from the heat and humidity of the day, the graduates were inspired by the words of Ginger Lieberman, board of education president. They then heard from the Class of 2005 Salutatorian, Matthew Schlossberger, who encouraged his classmates to make each moment count. The Deputy Superintendent of Schools Patricia Sullivan-Kriss, related her own feelings of excitement and pride regarding her daughter Jo Ellen's high school graduation, to what she was hoping for the students of this class.
The Class of 2005 Valedictorian, Marissa Goldblatt, shared fond memories of her grandfather and her thoughts on growing up with her family. This year's Interim Principal Dr. Joseph Hayward, moved the graduates and guests with his feelings of joy after getting to know the students so well. He wished them luck as they move on.
The high school choir's rendition of "A Parting Blessing", which has become a tradition at the ceremony, helped put closure to the students' tenure at POBJFK while motivating them to make the most of their futures. The graduation exercises were truly a celebration of the successes and memories of a wonderful class at POBJFK.
