On June 14, the Republic Airport Commission tabled their resolution, and did not take a vote, to expand the distance between Runway1/19 and Taxiway B due to the controversy, complaints from civic organizations and the intervention of our local elected officials. However, in no way is this a signal to stop fighting. It was only a tactic by the RAC to avoid immediate negative press.

In front of a crowd of several hundred angry residents from the Town of Oyster Bay, the Town of Babylon and the Town of Huntington, the RAC stated they are now planning a Public Information Meeting tentatively for July 27 and the vote on the resolution by the RAC has been rescheduled for Aug. 9. The time and locations for both meetings will be announced. All are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend.

To make a difference hundreds of residents from the three effected townships, (Huntington, Oyster Bay, and Babylon) need to band together and flood the RAC, NYS-DOT, the FAA and our elected officials with petition signatures, phone calls and presence at all forthcoming meetings.
