Plainview-Old Bethpage Cares, a program of the Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center, relies on volunteers who provide much-needed services to area residents such as driving clients to local medical appointments, grocery shopping, general errands, and small home repairs. They also serve as friendly visitors and telephone companions. This vital program will be the focus of an upcoming segment on WLIW21's Act II With Newsday. WLIW21 producer/composer Annie Pasqua and her crew recently spent an entire day with POB Cares volunteers, clients and staff to get a first-hand look at how POB Cares is making a difference every day in the lives of seniors in Plainview-Old Bethpage. The segment is scheduled to air sometime this summer.
