The Plainview Water District will be holding a public status meeting to review and inform the public on the remedial actions that are being taken to provide treatment for the threatened water supply well located at Plant No. 2 on Donna Drive. The meeting will be held at the Plainview Water District Administration Building, 10 Manetto Hill Road, on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m.
The construction of a wellhead treatment system at our supply well 2-1 located on Donna Drive commenced this past November. This capital project also included various site and facility upgrades for improving public health, safety and security protection. The treatment system is being proactively constructed to address degrading water quality conditions due to past industrial spills documented within the Plainview Industrial Park. Accordingly, the water district has removed the supply well from service and commenced with the construction of a wellhead treatment system. During construction, water is being transferred from other portions of our system.
Please note that your water is safe to drink. This action is being undertaken proactively to ensure the safety of your drinking water supply.
The Plainview Water District's Board of Commissioners, who reside in the community, takes your concerns seriously. Accordingly, the water district will hold a public meeting to review and inform the public on the measures to address concerns related to the retaining wall. This retaining wall was designed to protect public safety from local landslide dangers and provide safe employee access to our vital water supply and storage facility. In addition, residents will be provided with an update on the remedial actions that are under way to provide treatment for the impacted water supply well located at Plant No. 2.
The Water District is committed to protecting our most precious natural resource and keeping the community informed. For more information, contact Plainview Water District Superintendent Paul Granger at 931-6469.
