The entire Plainview-Old Bethpage community is welcome to attend the Town of Oyster Bay's Dec. 9 "Scoping Meeting" for Charles Wang's "Old Plainview" proposal. Scoping is the procedure by which the Town, as the lead agency, identifies significant adverse impacts in the proposed development. This Scoping Meeting is a unique opportunity for all residents to include their sentiments in the town's process of defining the criteria to be addressed in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the development of the former Nassau County property and additional acreage of the north side of Old Country Road. There will be representation from the Town, as well as the applicant, available to hear residents' comments. Copies of the Draft Scope will be available at the session. The public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Town of Oyster Bay-Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay.
As this proposal promises significant environmental changes in our community, all are strongly encouraged to participate in this public forum to help shape the review process. Town Hall is only a 15-minute drive with ample area parking and seating in the meeting room. For those of you unable to attend, written comments may be submitted to the town of Oyster Bay by Jan. 3 to the attention of the TEQR Division, 150 Miller Place, Syosset, NY 11791.
On this and other environmental issues we always welcome hearing from you either by e-mail at: ccpobc1@aol.com or you may call us at 433-6001. Please stay involved and informed.
