With the summer over, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce is back in the swing of things. The chamber held their annual barbecue on Sept. 22 at Castle Senior Living in Plainview. Chamber members were treated to a barbecue lunch provided by Castle, beautiful weather and raffle prizes.

(L-R) Kevin Langberg, Carol Meschkow, Ed Shulroff, Anna Goidell, James Stefanich, Myron Goldstein, Donna Goldstein and Gene Goidell enjoy the barbecue at Castle Senior Living.

Chamber President Francesca Carlow started the meeting by thanking Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs for her work in helping the chamber get a horse and a welcome sign for Old Country Road. Plainview resident Brian Strumwasser designed and painted the horse that marks the beginning of the Plainview community. Carlow said they are also working on another sign that would be located near the Race Palace on Round Swamp Road and Old Country Road, and she said that should be up before the first snow.

Jacobs said she is working on obtaining another horse for the Plainview and Old Bethpage community. "The chamber has been great for the community," said Jacobs. "I was happy to help secure the horse and the welcome sign for the community."
