Your article on Panera Bread (Aug. 27 issue of the Plainview Herald) was good, but incomplete as to why 35 residents adjacent to the shopping center do not want Panera Bread.

Our quality of life is almost completely destroyed due to previous special use permits given to the buildings that are now CVS and Trader Joe's. CVS has an open loading platform just 30 feet from my property line, a 40-foot trailer unloads there at least two hours at a time. The excessive noise carries right into our homes.

Now comes Trader Joe's: 40-foot trailers unload (again open platforms) approximately 45-feet from our property line at 7 a.m., then again at 4 p.m. and sometimes 7 p.m. on a Sunday, not to mention during the week. The noise and rumble is heard in our homes. You can't sit in your yard or barbecue and the noise violates the noise code.

Now comes Panera Bread? We hope not! We feel confidant this time the present town board will see our problems and help address them and realize Panera Bread will be right in our backyards. We thank the board for the time and consideration being given to our problems, no matter what the outcome.
