The 189 members of Plainview's DECA chapter gathered recently in the auditorium to celebrate another successful Plainview DECA year. DECA wrapped up the year with a ceremony and catered luncheon to honor all members for their hard work and dedication to DECA this school year. All participants and winners at the regional, state and national competitions were recognized during the ceremony and certificates were distributed congratulating them on their efforts.
Throughout the ceremony speeches were given by different members of DECA recollecting their experiences this year and in previous years. Members spoke about their first year in DECA, their second year in DECA and their third year in DECA, their experience at the international competition and the leadership academy in Nashville. TN.
Tears were shed by advisors Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Rachell as they bid farewell to the senior members and the 2003-2004 executive and junior boards. Those who have been given the honor to follow in this year's executive board's footsteps are: Julie Saldinger, president; Jared Passerman, vice president; Dana Schwaeber, recording secretary; Alyse Taub and Danielle Emspak as corresponding secretaries; Andrew Wasserman, treasurer; Jenna Jabinsky, historian; Risa Eilbaum, Parliamentarian; Jacqueline Mazzola, reporter; Matt Montag and David Vogt as fund-raising coordinators; and Eric Kelly as photographer. The honor of serving on the junior board was granted to Mallory Spector, Tracy Gutterman, Samantha Osdoby and Kristen Fox.
Everyone attending the ceremony was glad to have been recognized for the hard work and effort they put into their projects and other DECA activities. Hopefully, next year's membership will be just as successful.
