Class of 2004 valedictorian Lindsay Fourman has received recognition as a National Merit Scholarship finalist and a National AP Scholar. She is also the recipient of various awards for academic excellence in science, mathematics, social studies, English, modern language, business, and independent research. Additionally, she was presented with the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award in her junior year of high school.
Demonstrating a high level of commitment to making a difference in her school community, Fourman serves as president of Youth Against Cancer (YAC), chief of staff of the Metropolitan Model United Nations Conference (MetMUNC), editor of Creative Patterns Art and Literature Magazine and an executive board member of Mathletes and moot Court. She is also a member of the Varsity Quiz Bowl team, the Varsity Golf team, the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor society, and the Science Honor Society. Fourman has volunteered for the past four years at Sterling Glen (formerly known as Chestnut Grove) Assisted Living.
After spending this past summer in an organic chemistry laboratory at SUNY Stony Brook, Fourman was a Siemens Westinghouse Semifinalist, and a Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF) Regional Finalist for her project Úquot;Design and Synthesis of Taxane-based Reversal Agents for Multidrug Resistance in Cancer.Úquot; In her research, she produced four agents that would better enable cancer drugs to be retained by cancer cells in the body. In tenth grade, Fourman was a LISEF Regional Finalist and a Long Island Science Congress (LISC) senior division winner for her project Úquot;The Effects of Coal Tailings on Soil pH.Úquot;
Fourman will be attending Cornell University next fall and may pursue a career in medicine.
Taryn Pritchard has excelled academically throughout all her years in high school. Her academic accomplishments have earned her achievement awards in math, science, French, art, and history. As a senior, she was named a National Merit Commended scholar and qualified for the New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
In addition to her academic success, Pritchard is a three-sport athlete. She was named a captain of both the cross-county and winter track teams as an eleventh grader and has continued in those roles as a senior. In winter track, Pritchard is currently tied for the school record in the 600 meter event. She was an All-Division cross-country runner in both eleventh and twelfth grades and has been All-Conference and a team MVP in both lacrsse and indoor track.
Taryn's other interests include singing, art, and community service. In addition to being a member of the school choir and the all county chorus, Pritchard and several of her friends created a student-run a cappella group, Noteworthy, which has performed at several recent concerts and placed second at the school talent show. Her artistic talent led her to win the county-wide PTA Reflection contest as a senior. Pritchard is also vice president of the Community Service Club where she has helped to organize the senior citizen prom and the ALS walkathon. In her Úquot;spare timeÚquot; she enjoys life guarding which she also does for Camp Apollo during the summer. Her college plans are so far undecided.
