Approximately 60 retail, professional businesses, local civic associations and interested residents attended the April 21 Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce April 21 meeting and were offered invaluable insight into increasing sales and marketing by Joe Nunziata, president of Top Notch Training.
Francesca Carlow, president of the POB Chamber of Commerce, reminded everyone that the Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 31 at 9:30 a.m. proceeding east down Old Country Road and ending at the Plainview Pool for a commemoration ceremony honoring heroes past and present.
The Plainview Little League is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 5 at the Plainview Pool on Washington Ave. The day will be filled with pictures, memories and, of course, lots of baseball.
North Fork Bank, Lewis Oil Corp, The Concerned Citizens of POB and other members of the chamber are involved with raising funds for the Relay for Life that will take place on June 12 through the night on the track of POB Middle School.
Nominations were taken for three board of directors positions. The nominees are: Gary Epstein, Don Ingram, Brad Bernstein, Sheila Kreisberg, Kevin Kelly and Gary Burke. Both Ingram and Kreisberg have previously served on the executive board of the chamber.
Elections will be in June and the three new board members will each serve a 3-year term. Remaining board members are Francesca Carlow, David Dender, Donna Goldstein, Marianne Plummer, Anna Goidell, Richard Schatzel on the executive board. Charlene Calise, from Sterling Glen of Plainview will remain as corresponding secretary and Beth Bleistift, M.B.A as recording secretary.
Sheryl Hodes, manager of Astoria Federal, will also remain an officer as the treasurer of the chamber.
