Jeffrey Glick, a senior at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, was recently selected as the recipient of the Nassau County Basketball Coaches Association Scholar Athlete Award.
POB Varsity basketball coach Tom Hayes nominated Glick, co-captain of the basketball team, for this award. Glick was then selected to represent his conference, one of eight in Nassau County. From those eight students, one winner was chosen - that was Glick. He received a check in the amount of $500.
"We wish Jeff the best in his future endeavors and hope this check can contribute in some small way in his college years," said Rory Block, treasurer of the Nassau County Basketball Coaches Association.
Glick, an honor student at POBJFKHS, has been playing basketball since he was 7 years old and was proud to be a part of this year's varsity team that made it to the quarterfinals.
"It was nice to be rewarded for something that I enjoy doing," said Glick. "Also, there are so many other great scholar athletes that this was an honor."
Glick will be attending the University of Virginia this fall.
