Castle Senior Living in Plainview recently celebrated the 100th birthday of two residents.

Hilda Miller
|
Hilda Miller celebrated her centennial year on Dec. 11. She was born in 1903 in Staten Island, where she grew up and worked as a florist. When raising her children, Miller loved making her daughter's clothes and crocheting tablecloths, blankets and sweaters. Miller also loved to garden and was very proud of her gardens at her home in Staten Island.
Miller was married to her husband Carl for 27 years before he passed away. She has one child, one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
Miller has been a resident of Castle Senior Living since January 2000. She loves playing daily bingo games and working on puzzle books.

Julia Nulty
|
Julia Nulty celebrated her centennial year on Nov. 30. She was born in the Bronx in 1903 where she grew up and worked as a telephone operator for AT&T. In her spare time, Nulty loves to read, travel and sew and crochet blankets that her family cherishes.
Nulty remained very active and lived on her own until her early 90s when she moved from Ozone Park, where she served as the president of the South Ozone Park Senior Center, to Arizona for a few years. Nulty returned to Long Island about six years ago, and has been a resident of Castle Senior Living since October 2000.
Julia Nulty was married to her husband John for 35 years before he passed away. She has three children, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
