The residents of Plainview and Old Bethpage supported the school and library budgets at Tuesday's statewide budget vote and board elections.

The budget was approved with 1,901 voting for it and 1,317 voting against it. Jonathan Mosenson and Evelyn Rothman were both running unopposed in the school board election.

The library budget was approved with 2,041 people voting in favor and 1,099 voting against it. "We are pleased that the community has such confidence in us because a two-to-one vote in this climate is wonderful," said Rhonda Orenstein, Plainview-Old Bethpage library director.

Michael Polansky was re-elected to the library board of trustees and Arthur Cooper was elected to his first term, replacing Albert Ligouri who resigned from the board.
