As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I've been deeply involved in Congress' constitutional oversight on war-related issues. At the same time, here at home, I've been working to promote local support for our troops in Iraq. Whether people agree or disagree on the policies that sent our troops to Iraq, we have a profound responsibility to support those troops now ... and when they return home.

Local school children have an opportunity to become constructively involved by emailing troops. They can ask questions, express their concerns, and make a member of our Armed Forces a little less lonely. Additionally, the Armed Forces is encouraging Americans to support our troops by volunteering for veterans' causes, the Red Cross, or other related programs. Finally, family members of activated military personnel are invited to join my 2nd Congressional District Military Family Support Forum. We can help cut through red tape; and we have initiated a special hotline for you to receive important information as quickly as possible.

To learn how you can do your part, please visit my website at www.house.gov/israel and click-on "Troop Support Center." Or contact my district office in Hauppauge at (631) 951-2210.
