Tyson Colby Smith, 21, of Naples, FL, died on Feb. 8, 2003. He was born in Plainview and moved with his family to Naples in 1984. Tyson had many passions and accomplishments in his short life. He experienced more than some will ever accomplish and for this, we are extremely thankful. Tyson loved adventure and traveling. Because of this, he has friends who will sorely miss him all over the world.
An avid car enthusiast, Tyson's mechanical abilities and perfection astounded all. At 15 years old, Tyson purchased a 1970 Chevelle, which he restored and rebuilt. One of the many cherished moments of Tyson's, that he and his father attended, was preparing for the annual Turkey Rod Run in Daytona. The time spent together will be forever remembered.
In the sport of gymnastics, Tyson was the first athlete in Florida to represent the USA in Trampoline Tumbling. Tyson competed and traveled nationally and internationally winning seven national titles, three international titles and was an All-American three times.
Tyson is survived by his parents, Craig and Carole Smith and sister Brooke; maternal grandparents, Audrey and William Hauck of Naples; his paternal grandfather, Wilbert Smith of Oyster Bay. He was predeceased by his loving grandmother, Grayce LoBianco Smith, who is taking care of him now. Immediate family are Mark Smith, children Michael and Lindsay; William Hauck, children Amy and Samantha; Paul and Kim Smith, children Jason, Paul, Caitlin and Taylor; Dwayne and Sharon Hauck, children Lindsay, Meredith and Alaire; Dawn and Edward Wilezewski, children Brianne, Lauren, Krista; and many other relatives and dear friends.
