* Detectives from the Crimes Against Property Squad recently reported the arrest on Wednesday, Dec. 11 of a 35-year-old Plainview man for Grand Larceny and Forgery. The man was arrested by detectives on Dec. 11 in Westbury.

In May 2002, the defendant created a counterfeit check for more than $12,000 that was drawn on the Fleet Bank account of a business associate. This account was a business checking account and the check contained the correct amount and routing number for the victim's account. Solomon made the check payable to another company, signed the victim's name and then endorsed the check. He deposited this check into his own Astoria Federal bank account to cover checks already written. The victim discovered the missing funds and notified authorities. An investigation led to the defendant's arrest.

The Plainview resident was charged with Grand Larceny third degree and Forgery second degree.

* Second squad detectives recently reported the arrest of an East Islip man for a burglary that occurred on Sept. 7 at 8:25 a.m. in Plainview.

According to detectives, on Sept. 7, the defendant, who was employed as a sales representative by Omni Fitness in Plainview, entered the store for his scheduled work shift. Once in the store, he removed approximately $250 from the cash register and left the store without working his shift. On Sept. 8, at about 12:15 a.m., the defendant re-entered the store after business hours by use of his employee keys. Once inside, the defendant took approximately $60 from the cash register. He then closed the store with his key and left the scene in his vehicle.

On Dec. 14, at 11:30 a.m., the defendant was arrested and charged with Burglary third degree and Petit Larceny.
