Edward Shulroff is up for re-election this year for his post of Water District Commissioner and will serve his second term as one of three commissioners of the Plainview Water District along with Commissioner Joel Kessler and Commissioner Kevin Langberg. The election is uncontested.
Shulroff took office on Jan. 3, 2000, starting his first three-year term. As one of the commissioners, Shulroff is responsible for overseeing the business aspect at the Plainview Water District. Although the superintendent, currently Paul Granger, runs the day-to-day operations, Granger meets with the board once a week and informs the three commissioners of the status of the water district.
"We have one of the most competent Water District Superintendents in the two counties and Paul makes everyone's job easier," said Shulroff.
Shulroff first got involved with the water district when he was Scoutmaster for Troop #13 in Plainview. "We were always involved with the Plainview Water District and giving out their literature and the conservation kits," he said. "I got to know the commissioners very well and when a commissioner was retiring, I decided to run. I enjoy myself and decided that I would run for another three-year term."
Shulroff is excited to be involved with the water district at this time. "We are updating the water district because of the tragedy of September 11 - we are adding tighter security and we are updating a lot, too," said Shulroff. "This is an exciting time for me and the water district. I am looking forward to serving another term."
Voting will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 10 between 1 and 9 p.m. at the offices of the Plainview Water District, located at 10 Manetto Hill Road, just north of Old Country Road.
