In the way of a brief update: KeySpan's Proposed 250 Megawatt Spagnoli Road Power Plant is still in the process of state and public review and comment. However, the Article X process is moving toward its final phase at which time the State Examining Board's recommendation will be reviewed by the State Siting Board to make a determination whether to approve the plant. If residents have concerns over this proposed power plant and/or would like to learn more about it, please visit our website at: concernedcitizenspob.org as well as lishared.com.
As New York State Governor Pataki is a member of the State Siting Board, we recommend that all public comments should be mailed to his attention directly, along with other state representatives. For your convenience, preprinted postcards to the governor's attention are located at our community partners: Mailboxes Etc., Gold & Myers Bagels, and Trio Hardware in the Morton Village Shopping Center. If you prefer you may print a copy from our website and forward or simply cut out the following and attach to a letter size sheet or postcard with your name, address and signature and mail to NY State Governor George Pataki, Executive Chambers, The State Capitol, Albany, NY 12247.
Dear Governor Pataki,
Say NO to KeySpan's unnecessary, polluting proposal for a 250 Megawatt Power Plant on Spagnoli Rd. within a 5 mile radius of 115,000 of your constituents and less than 2 miles away from thousands of school children. This plant violates local zoning that has been crafted to protect the public health and will be situated dangerously close to Republic Airport. Say YES to our environment. Support energy alternatives, conservation, and a comprehensive master plan. Be a guardian for your residents!
Thank you,
Everyone's voice counts. Don't wait until it's too late. Be heard: Act now, stay informed and keep involved.
