As we respond to the letter "Do as I Say, Not as I do," [September 13 edition] the more appropriate theme should be "Nobody's Perfect!" Many residents called the Plainview Water District and brought the failure of our water sensor system at this one location to our attention. We were very grateful that they brought this to our attention as we quickly corrected the problem.

The Plainview Water District has been recognized throughout New York State for its innovative and comprehensive programs to conserve water and protect our water quality. We are very proud of our record and are always in search of ways to be more effective.

It is unfortunate that some residents looked at this past situation as a way to play "Gotcha!" It is always more helpful to hear from the residents directly.
