Why on Labor Day at about 6:30 p.m. did I see the sprinklers on at the Plainview Water District on Manetto Hill Road? I thought we were experiencing drought conditions. Plus, it has been raining non-stop over the last three days and it was raining when the sprinklers were on. As a Long Island consumer and homeowner I was horrified.

We are constantly reminded to conserve, conserve, conserve. We are told when to water our lawns. We are instructed to have rain sensors on our underground sprinklers so they will not go on when we have received a certain amount of rainfall. Why is the water district of Plainview exempt from these rules? Why is their motto "Do as I say, not as I do?"
