Plainview Water District Commissioners Reassure Community of MTBE-Free Water
For the past several years, the Plainview Water District has led the battle to ban the use of MTBE in automotive gasoline. MTBE is a gasoline additive, which is non-biodegradable, has a propensity to sink into the aquifer system and is soluble in water. Once the compound contaminates groundwater, it is difficult to remove with the traditional methods of air stripping and GAC filtration.

Residents Deliver Petitions
Opposing Spagnoli Power Plant
The South Huntington Alliance for Responsible Energy Development (SHARED) and Long Island Voters for Environmental Safety (LIVES) held a joint press conference on April 16, prior to the Huntington Town Board Hearing, to voice their concerns over KeySpan's proposed Power Plant and to show board members that there is opposition.
