Thank you to the voters of the Town of Oyster Bay who elected me for a second term as town clerk on Nov. 6. There was some confusion in newspaper reports, but the margin of victory was by nearly 2,000 votes. I am extremely gratified that many residents supported my campaign and recognized the increased services instituted during my tenure since January 2000.

The new services include the expansion evening hours for the benefit of working residents, who are now able to obtain licenses and permits two nights in each month instead of twice a year. Beginning in May 2000, couples have been able to apply for marriage licenses at both town clerk office locations: 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay and at 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa.

I have performed over 200 marriages in Oyster Bay during office hours without charging a fee. Pending approval of the town board, I have recommended that senior citizens residing in villages be charged the same fee as seniors who live in unincorporated areas for the LIRR parking lot permit, a fee of $10 per year. Senior village residents presently are charged $80.

I welcome suggestions from residents to improve the service of the town clerk's office and thank you again for the opportunity to continue in this position.
