Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs and Minority Leader Peter Schmitt, in an effort to assist the New York City operation in its rescue and recovery effort at the World Trade Center, are asking residents who are interested in helping to donate non-perishable items for transport to the site of the terrorist attack.
Working in conjunction with the legislative leaders, Long Island Moving and Storage, located at 108 New Town Road in Plainview, has offered to accept all donations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday. The moving company will then transport the supplies to workers in the city.
Officials said supplies such as bottled water, Gatorade, packaged snacks, white T-shirts and white socks, white towels and surgical masks are needed.
Those interested in making donations of supplies should contact Robert Falvo at Long Island Moving and Storage at 753-1100.
