  • NEWS: Plainview Residents Meet With Pope

    Anna and Stephen Competiello, residents of Plainview, had the unique opportunity to meet privately with His Holiness, Pope John Paul II at the papal residence, Castel Gandolfo. Their son, Louis S. Competiello, M.D, who had met with Pope John Paul II several times in the past, went on the trip to discuss business matters. Anna and Stephen went along to enjoy the experience.   • NEWS: Shigellosis Outbreak at Local Restaurant

    The Nassau County Department of Health is investigating an outbreak of Shigellosis. The department knows of at least 50 people with gastrointestinal illness, including diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain, who ate food from two restaurants under the same ownership: Shish-Kebab Snack Bar and Restaurant, 379 South Oyster Bay Road in Plainview and 283 Main Street in Port Washington.
