The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Board of Education recently appointed Alan S. Phillips as assistant superintendent for business. Phillips has many years of experience in this capacity, most recently in the Lynbrook School District, and before then, in Bethpage and East Rockaway.

Dr. Martin Brooks, superintendent, made the announcement: "Mr. Phillips brings a wealth of practical knowledge to Plainview-Old Bethpage. He joins us at a critical time, when we will draw on his expertise during budget preparation. On behalf of the staff and the community, I welcome Mr. Phillips to our team."
Phillips earned his bachelor's degree from Long Island University, his master of business administration from Baruch College, and his Professional Diploma from C.W. Post. He is currently working toward a doctoral degree in educational administration at Hofstra University. He began his career in education over 30 years ago as a sixth-grade classroom teacher in New York City.
Phillps resides in Old Bethpage with his wife, Marsha, who is a teacher. Their two daughters, Lauren and Melissa, graduated from Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School in 1997; Lauren is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Melissa attends Towson University. Their son, Brian, is a graduate of Cornell University. For leisure, he enjoys golf and making home improvements.
