Plainview Resident Wins Poster Contest
Leah Steurer, an 11-year-old resident of Plainview, received third prize in the November 2000 Cricket League art competition. For this contest, each entrant was asked to design a bedroom mural. Steurer's drawing appeared in the Feb. 2001 issue of Cricket Magazine.

Stratford Road Students Become Better Friends of the Disabled
During the week of January 23, students at Stratford Road Elementary School in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District participated in a "Disabled on the go" obstacle course. Lisa Borgen and Janeane Gronich of Stratford's PTA coordinated the event as part of the school's year-long Character Education Program.

Plainview Resident to Serve as Upcoming Race Director
Vytra Health Plans and the Greater Long Island Running Club are combining their resources on Saturday morning, April 28, to stage the Vytra Human Race 5 Kilometer Run, with the entire net proceeds of the Run to be turned over to Long Island Cares and its efforts to provide emergency food assistance to needful Long Islanders.
