Barbara Joan Vigilante, 41, formerly of Plainview, died on Feb. 10, 2001. Wife of Robert. Daughter of the late Emanuel and Dora Festa. Sister of Robert John. Arrangements were made by Clayton's Funeral Home, Kings Park. Funeral Mass at St. Pius X RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Eugene A. Kelly Jr., of Plainview, died on Feb. 14, 2001 after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Gene was only 60 years old and is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sara-Jane; his children, Kevin, Christopher (Linda), Jacqueline (Salvatore); his grandson, little Sal III; and his sisters, Patricia Dempsey and Suzanne Buell and their families. Gene was the eldest child of the late Elizabeth and Eugene Kelly Sr.

He never complained throughout the horrendous journey thrust upon him. He united and inspired us. We miss him terribly.

Born and raised in New York, Gene and Sara-Jane moved to Plainview in 1966 where they raised their three children. Gene was a retired steamfitter, a member of Local 638 for 40 years and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #10332, the St. Pius X Seniors Club and Rosary Society. Gene was a friend of Bill W.

Arrangements were made by the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, Hicksville. Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Gene's family respectfully request that donations in Gene's name be made to Hospice Care Network (832-7100) or Cancer Care of LI (364-8130).

Gene's wife and children would like to thank all of their family and friends who provided Gene and his family with love, comfort, food and prayers. Without your help we would not have been able to take such good care of him. You cannot imagine what your support meant to us and we love you all so much for caring.
