Plainview's Odd Sangesland gets ready for the start of the run.

Odd Sangesland, a resident of Plainview, scored as the first runner over the age of 70 in the 400 meter run in the Jan. 14 Long Island Track and Field Developmental Meet at Suffolk Community College. Sangesland ran an outstanding 1:33.4 for the 400 meters, which works out to a pace just over six minutes per mile. Sangesland is a member of the Greater Long Island Running Club and runs competitively for the Club's "Senior Feet" Racing Team.

Janet Bergman, a resident of Old Bethpage, was the fifth woman in the 40-44 age group to cross the finish line at the Long Island State Parks Winter Series 5 Kilometer Run at Heckscher State Park on Jan. 27. Bergman, a member of the Greater Long Island Running Club, crossed the finish line in 25 minutes, 12 seconds.
