Plainview Water District Commissioners: Pumpage Figures Way Down in 2000
During a recent Plainview Water District public meeting, Joel Kessler, chairman of the board of commissioners, proudly reported that the yearly pumpage statistics were down sharply for 2000 in comparison to recent years. Due to the large amount of precipitation and the communities' water conservation efforts, the yearly pumpage fell below 1,550mg (million/gallons) for the first time since 1996 and well below the yearly pumpage average for the decade, 1,762mg. According to Commissioner Edward Shulroff, this past year's pumpage figures are the lowest recorded by the water district since 1980.
