Plainview-Old Bethpage Student Gets Exceptional Acceptance Letter
Scott Eisberg, a senior at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School won a contest sponsored by the Queen Latifah show. Scott was waiting on a standing-room-only line for a Hootie & the Blowfish concert, when producers from the Queen Latifah show approached him and others on line, asking for the number one Hootie fan. Entrants into the contest had to tell producers all they knew about the band, and why they should win. Thinking nothing of it, Scott went into the concert, and forgot about the incident.

Plainview Resident Co-Authors Book
Panos Mourdoukoutas, a resident of Plainview and an economics professor at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, co-authored a book entitled The Rise and Fall of Abacus Banking in Japan and China. Mourdoukoutas explains in his book that Japanese and Chinese bankers operate more like accountants than bankers do.
