After receiving 71 percent of the vote during a community-wide election held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, Kevin Langberg is the new commissioner of the Plainview Water District. Langberg, who will take the seat vacated by retiring Commissioner Samuel Panciroli, will be sworn into duty during the Plainview Water District's first public meeting in January. As commissioner, Langberg will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the district's water supply and making decisions regarding the district's budget and other fiscal matters.
"I'd like to thank everyone who supported me during my candidacy for commissioner," said Langberg. "With my interest in protecting our environment, I'm looking forward to working closely with my fellow board members, Joel Kessler and Edward Shulroff. My number one priority is to help the board of commissioners maintain the high quality water standards the residents of Plainview-Old Bethpage have come to expect of our drinking water."
Langberg, a resident of Plainview for nearly 35 years, decided to run for the vacated board position upon hearing that Commissioner Panciroli was retiring after nine years on the board and 46 years with the Plainview Water District. Currently, Langberg serves as deputy clerk of the Nassau County Legislature. He and his wife, Geralyn, are products of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District. Their son, Alec, currently attends the district's Stratford Road Elementary School.
