I would just like to express my appreciation to three caring public servants - New York State Senator Kemp Hannon, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto and New York State Assemblyman David Sidikman - for their support for wheelchair athletics here on Long Island in general and our Wheelchair Championship Race in particular.

It is not easy to get significant backing for wheelchair athletics. The disabled are clearly a minority and disabled athletes have to struggle extra hard both to get the funding to make organized sports possible and the recognition that is so richly deserved for what they can accomplish. Senator Hannon, Supervisor Venditto and Assemblyman Sidikman have each played a major role in assuring the success of the Wheelchair Championship Race and have always been there when we needed them. They have our thanks.
