Nationwide Insurance Company has signed on, once again, to be the title sponsor of the 15th annual edition of the Nationwide Insurance Ocean to Sound Relay. The announcement of Nationwide's support was made by Relay Director Alan End, a resident of Plainview.
The Relay, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24, features teams of eight runners each running a five-to-seven-mile leg of a course that starts at Jones Beach State Park and winds its way through the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay and Huntington to reach the exciting finish at Bethpage State Park 50 miles later. Nearly 150 teams are expected to participate this year.
The entire net proceeds of the Nationwide Insurance Ocean to Sound Relay are dedicated to the ASPIRE program for the rehabilitation of young amputees, victims of bone cancer and traumatic amputations.
"We are thrilled to have Nationwide Insurance back as the prime sponsor of this year's Relay," stated End, who will be directing the Relay, once again, for the host, Greater Long Island Running Club. "Nationwide's Tony Wiszowaty is a public-spirited businessman with a giving heart who is a real credit to the insurance industry. With Nationwide's continued support, we expect this year's Relay to be our biggest and best ever!"
