I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, Denise D'Alessandro, the new editor of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Herald.

In January, I started working for Anton Community Newspapers as the editor of the Syosset-Jericho Tribune. Becoming a part of the nearby Syosset and Jericho communities has been a great experience for me and I look forward to doing that with Plainview.

There are so many interesting events happening in the community and I am very excited to begin work for the Herald. The school district seems to be going through a revitalization period, with the construction work, bond issue, Dr. Brooks, the new superintendent and the addition of many new staff members. I am entering this community at an excellent time of rebirth and growth.

A local newspaper should play a very important role in the community. I would like to increase the readership of the paper and have the Herald play a more active role in the community. I am anxious to meet the members of the community and also local officials. I also look forward to learning more about Plainview and all that it has to offer.

This paper would not succeed without the support of the town. I strongly encourage feedback and would really like to hear from the community whether it is a story idea, a comment or a suggestion.
