Mosquitoes Infected With West Nile Virus Found in Nassau
The State Health Department this week confirmed the first evidence this summer of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile Virus (WNV) within the county, in Massapequa and Farmingdale, and as of press time Thursday, Nassau County officials had planned to conduct pesticide spraying by truck in residential neighborhoods.

Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association Thanked for Wheelchair Race Help
Representatives of the Greater Long Island Running Club recently journeyed to the offices of Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association to formally thank the association for its support of this year's Salomon Smith Barney North American Wheelchair Championship Race; and to present a special lucite trophy to commemorate its support and, perhaps most important of all, to give Association President Angelo Bianco and Association Director Michael J. Wheaton race shirts as a way of saying "thank you," once again.
