New Mural at North Shore Hospital
"People Caring for People" is the theme of the recently completed mural that greets patients and visitors in North Shore University Hospital at Plainview's main entry corridor. The project, designed by Oyster Bay artist Laurette Kovary-Gnagy, was painted with the help of enthusiastic young volunteers. The colorful, large-scale portraits depict hospital staff members engaged in medical scenes. They will "greet" everyone who enters the hospital through the main entrance.

Plainview-Old Bethpage Board of Ed Appoints Kindergarten Center Principal
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Board of Education has unanimously appointed Paulette B. Miller as principal of the Kindergarten Center. According to President Evy Rothman, Ms. Miller has extensive knowledge of early childhood education and contagious enthusiasm. "The board was also impressed with the good rapport she is known to have with parents, teachers and students in her previous assignment in the New York City schools."

Plainview-Old Bethpage Runners and Walkers Invited to Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run
Plainview-Old Bethpage runners and walkers of every age and ability are cordially invited to be part of the 13th annual edition of the Oyster Bay Town Supervisor's Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run, to be held on Saturday morning, Oct. 14, as the kickoff event of this year's Oyster Festival. The run will start in Fireman's Field in Oyster Bay at exactly 9 a.m. on the morning 14th.
