The Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center (45 Manetto Hill Road, Plainview) recently served as the setting for a meeting of women community leaders with New York Senatorial candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.
It was at the suggestion of Nassau County Legislator and Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) that the JCC be used as a site where Clinton could discuss issues affecting the state with the local community.
Jacobs was joined by JCC President George N. Rifkin, JCC Immediate Past President Abby G. Burton, JCC Executive Director Joyce Glick and JCC Assistant Executive Director Sue Schwaber Tregerman in greeting Clinton upon her arrival.
Following her remarks, Clinton answered questions from members of the standing-room-only audience.
The Mid-Island Y JCC is a non-profit community center offering programs for children, adults, seniors, singles and teens. For more information about the JCC, visit the website at www.miyjcc.org.
