Long Island Track & Field, the newly established Long Island Association of USA Track & Field, is pleased to announce the scheduling of its inaugural Association Championship Track & Field Meet, to be held at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex on Sunday, July 23, starting at 9 a.m.
Athletes of every age and level of ability are invited to participate in this comprehensive championship meet, which will include the following schedule of events:

300/400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
2K/3K Steeplechase
4 x 100 Meter Relay
4 x 400 Meter Relay
4 x 800 Meter Relay
Field
Javelin
Shot Put
Discus
Long Jump
Triple Jump
High Jump
Pole Vault
The entry fee is $5 for each individual event and $15 per relay team event. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female Open (age 29 and under), Sub-Masters (30-39), and Masters (40-44), (45-49), (50-54), (55-59), (60-64), (65-69), (70 plus) age group winners in each event and each relay team. You don't have to be a member of Long Island Track & Field to compete, but you do have to join to be eligible for a championship award. The meet will be directed by LITF Track & Field Chairman Paul Schaefer.
"This championship meet will be a major step in our efforts to revitalize track and field here on Long Island," observed LITF President Susan Polansky. "Mitchel Field can and should be a hotbed of continuous activity for track and field, and we hope to see every local athlete on hand for our first association championship."
Long Island Track & Field is the Long Island arm of USA Track & Field, the official national governing body of track and field, long distance running, cross country running, and racewalking in the United States.
