Pictured here, Rich Innamorato (rear, center) is welcomed to the meeting by Greater Long Island Running Club ultramarathoners (rear, l. to r.): Rich Czarnowski, Nick Palazzo, Barry Aronowsky, Paul Seltzer, (front, l. to r.): Paul Cooper and David Redman.

The featured speaker at the April meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club was Rich Innamorato, president of the Broadway Ultra Society and one of the true pioneers of ultramarathoning in the New York Metropolitan area.

Rich treated the audience to a short history of endurance running, and regaled everyone with a series of anecdotes highlighting the early days of ultra running. Rich urged everyone to be a part of the Long Island Endurance 50K and 50 Mile Runs on May 20, either as a competitor or as a volunteer.
