Islanders Find a New Keeper
In a press conference held earlier this week at the Garden City Hotel, Wang and Kumar announced that they had bought the fledgling National Hockey League organization for $190 million. The new ownership would not, however, elaborate on any issues involving SMG, the coliseum's operators, a new arena or the development of the surrounding Nassau County property.

Second Annual 5K Run/Walk
The second annual 5K Run/Walk will benefit the Association for Children With Down's Syndrome, Inc. (ACDS), located in Plainview. The proceeds from this event will go to improving the lives of all children and young adults with Down's syndrome and their families. The Run/Walk will take place rain or shine on Sunday, May 21. The run will start at 9 a.m., the walk will start at 9:30 a.m. The run will begin and end at Eisenhower Park - parking field #1. Registration for this event is $15 by mail and $18 the day of run. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Eisenhower Park Field House.
