Central Island Medical Director Elected Fellow of National Organization
An internist practicing in Nassau County for nearly 40 years, Dr. Mead has served as medical director for Central Island Healthcare since February of 1991. During that time she was instrumental in guiding the transition of Central Island from traditional nursing home to serving as Long Island's most active sub-acute provider. The 202-bed facility has referral relationships with all major hospitals on Long Island and specializes in providing in-patient rehabilitative care to individuals immediately following a hospital stay.

Junior midfielder Joe Barile (Plainview JFK High School) scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, to lead the Hofstra men's lacrosse team to a 10-7 win over UMass in the 2000 season opener on Saturday, Feb. 26 in Amherst, MA.
