The Greater Long Island Running Club was proud to be able to donate gift certificates for 12 pairs of ASICS Gel running shoes to the youngsters from the Malverne High School girls track team.

GLIRC's Roger Loberto and Vincent Croce presented the shoe certificates to Malverne Athletic Director Paul Brown, Coach Colbert Britt, Team Captain Veronica Garden and the rest of the team at the Jan. 17 Friendship Games Track & Field Meet hosted by Malverne High School at Nassau Community College in honor of Martin Luther King. Olympic 400 meter champion Derrick Adkins, a graduate of Malverne High School, was also on hand for the presentation.

"We are very happy to be able to support the great Malverne track program in this way," noted the Running Club's Vinny Croce. "It was our special pleasure to be able to help our friends at Malverne High School celebrate Martin Luther King Day in this way."
