POB Athletes Honored On High School Athletic "Wall of Fame"
Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School athletes Taylor Rut and Matthew Descovich were recently honored as the first middle school students to be placed on the Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School Athletic Wall of Fame. Taylor was honored for her participation in All-County Gymnastics competitions and Matthew for participation in the All-County swimming team. The announcement was made by principal Dr. Edward Metzendorf. (L. - R.): Dr. Edward Metzendorf, principal; Taylor Rut; Matthew Descovich; and Dr. Steven Nathanson, assistant principal.

Winthrop Continues Support For Wheelchair Championship
The Greater Long Island Running Club offers its thanks to the good folks at Winthrop Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery for their continued support for the club's North American Wheelchair Championship Race. Dr. Alan Hartman and Nurse Kathy Wagner of Winthrop met with Race Director Nick Katsounis recently to discuss plans for the 2000 event, and Nick presented them with special plaques to thank them for their past support, along with race T-shirts from 1999.
