What a wonderful season! The girls Varsity volleyball team ended their season in first place in Conference II-B with a record of 12 wins and four losses. Making it into the playoffs and meeting Elmont (seeded seven) as the 10th seeded team. They stood small in stature, but proved to be the best defensive team in the league. But the most amazing thing is how young they are. The lineup consisted of a starting 13-year-old, a 14-year-old running the offense, three juniors and one senior. And the substitutes were all sophomores. The most memorable matches of the season were against Hicksville, Calhoun, Farmingdale and Great Neck South. They were all five game matches which proved to the defense that they hung in there tough to close the match.

This year's All Conference award winners, voted by the Nassau Coaches Volleyball Association are junior Courtney Grady, junior Jessica Levine and junior Grace Lee.

Kimberly Kennedy was also voted to the All County team for Conference II-B. For the past five years Kim has been a true leader in the volleyball program and she was a major contributor to the success this season. She is the kind of player that all coaches want on their team. Hard work was nothing unusual for her. She will truly be missed on the court and as a student at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK. This year, she is Plainview Volleyballs' Most Valuable Player for the 1999 season. Returning for next year's team is Allison Gold, Naomi Skolnik, Sarah Seligsohn, Kristen Vissichelli, Amanda Bobnis, Andrea McCann, Jana Dubrow, Courtney Grady and Jessica Levine. The team is coached by Russi Villalta.
