Plainview PAL Lacrosse has wrapped up the Fall Camp/Clinic. The children had the opportunity to be taught basic and advanced skills of the Native American game. The PAL staff of Lee Eichenbaum, Jerry Lester, Paul Rut, Harry Jacobs, Coach George, Adam Weisman and Michael Hopkins. The children also had the chance to workout with Michael Barile, Joe Barile and Evan Kostewka who will be playing with the Hofstra "Flying Dutchman" this spring. The children were taught by newcomers to our Plainview School District coaching staff Kevin Warne and Chris Rogler. Chris and Kevin will be working with the varsity team. Go Hawks. The older group of players, seventh-12th grades, had a great experience with Coach Matt Gentile, who proved to be a real asset to the staff. Coaches Gentile, Warne and Rogler are the type of young teachers/coach that Plainview School District should be proud of.
The children/players whom attended the clinic were supplied with a jersey, a lacrosse stick and a Hawks hat. This was outfitted by the Plainview PAL which is run by Police Officer/Director Ron Hamel. Ron is known throughout the town as a great administrator as well as a friend to the lacrosse program.
The children had a super time. The eight week clinic featured skills, rules, teamwork and "Pride Jumping Jacks, Are You Ready."
The parents were more than willing to help out with water, supplies etc. The lacrosse community in Plainview came together this fall and made an impression on the children they will not forget. Congratulations to the children, parents, coaches, PAL, Plainview School District's Athletic Director Kevin McDermot for helping to grow this program, so more children can share in this game.
