County to Begin Aerial Spraying Campaign
It was announced Thursday, Sept 30, that, after consultation with the New York State Health Department, aerial spraying in Nassau County to kill mosquitoes which may be carrying the West Nile encephalitis disease will commence at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, weather permitting.

Plainview's Long Island Falcons Win Babe Ruth Championship
Plainview's Long Island Falcons baseball team topped off their spring/summer season by winning the 1999 Nassau County Babe Ruth Championship. While compiling a record of 28 wins and only six losses, the Falcons "buzzed" through an incredible playoff series. In the double elimination tournament, the team opened against a tough Massapequa squad.

Road Runners Donate Triathlon Proceeds to LIAF
Among the highlights of the Sept. 21 meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club was the presentation of a check in the amount of $4000 to the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation. the donation was derived from the proceeds of the Seacrest-Tobay Triathlon that attracted over a thousand athletes to Oyster Bay last month.
